The Olde Lamplighter You ' d hear the patter of his feet as he came toddling down the street ... His smile would hide a lonely heart, you see .. . If there were sweethearts in the park . . . He ' d pass fhe lamp and leave it dark, remembering the days that used to be ... He made the night a little brighter, wherever he would go . . . THE OLDE LAMPLIGHTER of long, long ago ... 82

i ' I Dear M.H.S. Student Body, What a year this has been! Being Meadowdale ' s first foreign student has been such a beaut experience. Everyone is so much fun, and I will never forget the casual atmosphere and student teacher relationships. I have learned lots about America. Australians and Americans are very similar, except you have cute accents, unique expressions and interesting yet attractive clothes, such as your girl ' s sawed off pants with a fly in the front. I ' ve enjoyed all aspects of Meadowdale, including your many clubs and activities, dances, pep weeks and assemblies. I ' ve especially enjoyed bellowing with you at games. Thanks to my wonderful American family and to all of you for making this year worth¬ while and fun. I hope in turn to have brought to you something of Australia—recognition that it is a progressive country and not simply a land of aborigines, kangaroos and boomerangs. I reckon you ' re all fair dinkum beaut blokes. Thanks for a wonderful year. GAIL 81
