There is an especially large society this year because many stu¬ dents have spent the past two years laying the foundation of our school publications MESIKA and CHIEFTAIN. Many clubs are formed for activity, prestige, experience, and fun. However, the Service Clubs of Meadowdale are formed for all these reasons and more. The participating students have put forth much time and effort to serve the student body in various ways.

This year in a combined effort the music department presented the annual Mid-Winter and Pops concerts. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Burton, the Impressions, Choir, Chorus, and Concert-Band performed such selections as The Hallelujah Chorus, Nearness of You, Shirley, and tunes by George Gershwin. Also per¬ forming was the orchestra directed by Mr. Eric Koker. As an added highlight to the Pops Concert, the Concert- Band and vocal department combined to present Porgy Bess. This was the first time in this district such an effort has been undertaken. 67
