1981 — The year It started to show If we talked about 1980-81 as the year it showed, the it referred to would not be something always tangible, always visable. It constantly changed and refused to stay in one place to be oohed and ahhed over by an amazed and admiring student body, for it was an intangible, a spirit of ‘pulling together” that had managed to somehow elude the Mon- archs for the past several years. This it, this “pulling together’’ manifested itself when the football team came through with a 4-6 record after only minimal victories in the past five years. It was obvious at pep rallies where the “will to win”’ the spirit stick was the impetus for the extra spirit shown by the competing classes. It really showed when the annual blood drive pulled in twice as much blood for the Metropolitan Blood Service as last year.
