You paid fifty-two dollars for what? The highest price paid at the annual AIASA celebrity auction was fifty-two dollars. It was paid by Tommy Terry for an autographed copy of Richard Nixon’s book, The Real War. He wasn’t even sure that it was autographed as all items up for bid re- mained wrapped until pur- chased. The second highest price paid for an object was forty- five dollars paid by Tammy Woelfl for a shirt worn by Kenny Loggins in a concert. Mike Andrews had the monetary help of several friends when he paid thirty dollars for an autographed photo of Cheryl Tiegs. Among the lesser priced objects there were packages from Erma Bombeck, Senator Byrd, Ted Kennedy and oth- ers. The AIASA aroused the curiosity of the students ear- ly in the year by displaying the packages that would go up for bid in a display case. The objects were donated by the celebrities in response to a letter explaining the auc- tion sent by AIASA President Preston Blake. Learning Mr. Earl Binn’s student teacher led the Mixed Ensemble in this number at the Spring Concert. Small but effective The orchestra, led by Miss Laurie Collins, was small but two of its members were part of the Richmond Youth Orchestra. Going, going ... The auctioneer, Earl Binns, urges a bidder not to pass up an item but to bid higher. Determination! Pam Gizzi shows unanswering determination to pur- chase the item she was bidding for. Overcome Tammy Woelfl seemed happy enough to pay forty-five dol- lars for a shirt worn by Kenny Log- gins in concert.
