19B8 Volume XXII Dedication We, the Seniors of 1968, proudly dedicate the 1968 TUSCARORA to a person for whom everyone has the greatest admiration and respect. As a teacher and friend of the students, she has done much to instill in them those qualities which will best suit them for their roles as mature, useful adults. As a commercial teacher, her enthusiasm and knowledge have helped students to gain interesting insight in the field of business. Her wisdom, patience, and understanding have suited her well for her work. We know her as a person whose principles and integrity have served both her and each of us in our education and daily life. For each of these things, we proudly and gratefully dedicate the 1968 TUSCARORA to our friend and teacher, MISS BRENDA DUNN. The hero of the play, Homer Hollowbone, has fallen in love with a debutante. He begins correspondence with the girl, telling her he lives in a Mansion, will be vacationing in Europe in the summer, and is a very refined, educated person. However, Homer has exag- gerated. He lives in a shack in the mountains, with his dirty family. Maw and Fanny Jane work hard, while Paw only eats, sleeps, and teaches Gloria, his pet skunk, to do tricks. Sarah Jo and Gracie spend their time teasing Homer and chasing boys. It ' s been a hard winter and Homer is writing a letter to his girl, when Gracie grabs it and reads it aloud. Paw insists that it ' s a courtin letter and demands to know the girl ' s name. They jump to the conclusion that it ' s to Bertha Blair- house, just as she, her Maw, and brother Slim arrive. Homer is busy ducking Bertha when another unexpected guest arrives. None other than Melissa Dugan herself! She tells them that she ' s looking for a handsome, well-educated young gentleman with whom she has been corresponding. Homer almost chokes. He hadn ' t intended his letters to sound that serious! Melissa learns the truth and Homer finds himself engaged to Bertha. However, Gracie May explains things to Bertha and the fueding begins. Each character played an important part in the play and really made it a success. The happy ending to the play gave just the right lift to an evening full of fun and entertainment. 76 Snapshots Chief Cheerleader Diane McLamb 69 Adviser Miss B.
