Among these are an Italian mother and her children, a society lady, three college girls, a young lady and her henpecked fiance, and a gentleman with an odd looking suitcase. The suitcase under the inspection of Miss Piddgie McDougal is found to contain white mice. The Italian woman is accused of stealing a pearl necklace. A trial is held and the mystery is solved. The bridge is fixed and everyone goes happily on their way. 1964 Athletic Banquet The room was decorated in the traditional school colors of red and white. On the walls were decorations depicting the sports: football, basketball, volleyball and track. Dennis Collins was the master of ceremonies and Mr Graham the address. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the king and queen. Bob DeCamp and Carol Suckstorf were the honored royalty. Their attendants were: Rodney Sparr and Patty Novotny; Richard Seelmeyer and Janis Daniel; Gene Humphrey and Carol Kuchar. The crown bearers were Patti Iness and Jimmy Pratt. 40 1964 JuniorvSenior Banquet Southern Plantation was the theme of a lovely banquet given the senior class by the juniors. The room was decorated with pink streamers and white ceiling with gold stars. A darkie singer, Terry James, sitting beneath an umbrella in front of a plantation home entertained with guitar music. Katrina Murray was mistress of ceremonies. Terry Stout gave the welcome and Rodney Sparr gave the response. Remarks were given by Mrs. Harvey Rhodus and Supt. Graham. Karen Kouba read the class prophecy and JoDene Halsey read the class history. Those serving as waiters and waitresses were: Norma Lulow, Janelle Meyer, Patty Sparr, Janice Higbee, Duane Blair, Billy Pratt, Jackie Larson, and Rodney Anson. They were dressed to represent negroes. 4 1 On a lovely spring evening of May 14, 1964, the eleven seniors of the class of 1964 of Meadow Grove High School donned caps and gowns of red and white for their last appearance. We were addressed by Dr. Bill E. Ross, who spoke on our challenge as seniors. Superintendent Victor A. Graham, presented the class of 1964, and Gordon McIntosh presented the diplomas. Class sponsor, Charles Hummer announced the valedictorian: Judy Praeuner and the salutatorian: Dennis Collins. LeRoy Murray was awarded a certificate for perfect attendance. 42 ATHLETICS A TEAM CHEERLEADERS: Patty Novotny, and Carol Suckstorf, Seniors; Carol Kuchar, and Judy Sparr, Juniors. Trojans finished the football season with a record of 2 wins and 6 losses. Due to inexperience on both sides of the bench the Trojans had more than their share of losses. As a result of the successful season last year many of the boys had good abilities. However, even this did not seem to help bring home more wins. The boys made every attempt to win the games but training was lacking. The Trojanettes started the season unsuccessfully but gained experience as the season progressed. Although Mr. Osorno is in the picture above, Mr. Graham became head coach at the beginning of the 2nd semester. The Trojanettes record was 16 wins and 21 losses. However, even though the biggest percentage is in the loss column, the Trojanettes gained much experience under the leadership of Mr. Graham. Mr. Graham obtained the team and this was the spark the team needed. Enthusiasm, spark and pep marked the team after Mr. Graham became coach. We are sure that because of Mr. Graham's leadership this year, their prospects are better for next year. 48 The Meadow Grove High School track team was coached by Tom James and Wendell Osorno. There were a few boys out for track and they participated in a few track meets. One boy. Gale Williams earned the right to go to the State meet at Kearney. 49 livery Wednesday and Friday the boys and girls had physical education under the direction of Tom James. Although the students did not care for the exercises they knew it did them good.
