Superintendent'a Sfletaacje By the time this annual is in your hands, the Seniors will have graduated from Meadow Grove High School. Some of them will have completed the necessary arrangements for enrollment in a college or some other institution for further training. These people are to be commended for their wise and early choice. Something should also be said for the student who is not going to college. Whether he is not going because, like Thomas Edison, he is not smart enough; or because, like J. C. Penney, he is not rich enough; or because like Henry Ford the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself —do not believe that the chances for achievement are closed to you. Many people have reached a high position without benefit of formal higher education, not because they didn’t have it, but because they persistently and patiently pursued some worthwhile objective. Make good use of your leisure time, talk and associate with good intelligent men, and always have a purpose. Set your goal and work towards it. Superintendent R. H. Merklinger

foreword Each time you open the pages of your 1959 TROJAN, you will be met by a host of memories. The TROJAN is meant to help you find the memories of your own personal highlights. If this book helps you recapture those dear high school memories, the staff will feel that this year’s TROJAN is a success. dedication We, the Senior Class of Meadow Grove High School, sincerely wish to dedicate the 1959 TROJAN to our faithful band director, Mr. Sawyer. We appreciate the patience and kindness which he has given us for the past ten years. Mr. Sawyer has been a music instructor for 35 years. In the past few years he has traveled two thousand miles a month to teach music in five schools: Clearwater, Royal, Inman, Page, and Meadow Grove.
