DODGE CITY KANSAS v: ALUMNI First Building on Present Site SHORT HISTORY OF MEADE BIBLE ACADEMY Meade Bible School opened its doors for the first time on November 14, 1927 in a small one room school house located on the John H. Harder place, one mile north of the present school site. The land was donated by John A. Harder, and the building was an old school house, purchased for $300, and moved to this site. Twenty nine students were enrolled on that first day of school, November 13, 1927, with missionary G. T. Thiessen as instructor. School continued here for three years, and then its doors closed. Henry Steingard bought the building and moved it to his place a few miles west. In 1936 the Bible School was reorganized and opened for school again in October of that year in the E. M. B. Church basement, Rev. J. J. Gerbrandt serving as instructor. With an increased enrollment in 1941, three in- structors were added to the staff. In 1945 High School subjects were added to the curriculum and the name was changed from Meade Bible School to Meade Bible Academy. In January of 1946 the first building, on its present site, was dedicated. Other buildings were added and four years of accredited high school work was offered. Today Meade Bible Academy has a gymnasium with two classrooms, a library and principals office in it, two additional classroom buildings and five teacher apartments. 32 First graduation class, 1930.
