A. nu Of one whose happy disposition and sincerity as a Christian was an inspiration to all who knew her well, who by her own willingness and efficiency in Christian service remains a challenge to us, who shared the joys and blessings with fellow students at M. B.A., to the memory of Matilda Reimer who went to be with the Lord on December 4, 1954, we dedicate the 1956 MEM- ORIES. The memory of the just is blessed. (Prov. 10:7a) ■1 _D . . Ewett John n. HERMAN REIMER It is better to know useless things FRANCES CLASSEN than nothing. At no time afraid of work. DARLENE CLASSEN Blushing is the color of virtue. DONALD CLASSEN It is the nature of a man, who is great to be calm. DONALD ISAAC Girls are no good, I like Mercurys. i ; v MARTIN REIMER Me and my Model 'A' stay side by side. DONNA CORNELSEN Life is really simple, but men insist on making it complicated! ELDA FREISEN What I don't say can't be said. SHIRLEY FRIESEN At peace with everyone. LAVINA FRIESEN Time will tell what heaves beneath her calm surface. FRIESEN TRANSPORT Henry K. Friesen MENNO CLASSEN He thinks before he talks. MERLIN THIESSEN No man who is in a hurry is quite civilized. I Senow TViCC We, the Senior Class of 1956, do testify this to be our last will and testament. Alice Zielke wills her high soprano voice to Shirley Schmidt. Shirley Friesen wills her shyness to Nola Janzen. Donald Classen wills his wavy hair to Robert Friesen. Darlene Classen wills her interest in athletics to Adeline Friesen. Margaret Goossen wills her studious ways to Ernie Classen. Abie Hamm wills his ability to get a girl to LeRoy Reimer. Herman Reimer wills his artistic ability to Larry Classen. Lavina Friesen wills her size nine shoes to Esther Bartel. Martin Reimer wills his dark hair to Kenneth Janzen. Frances Classen wills her dependability to Leroy Friesen. Elda Friesen wills her editorship of the school paper to Marcellene Hamm. Menno Classen wills his unconquerable desire to win a girl to Ervin Reimer. Donald Isaac wills his blond features to Alvin Isaac. Merlin Thiessen wills his hot-rod to Harold Loewen. Donna Cornelsen wills her cheerful smile to Marilyn Classen. ScHOVl ’PlOfeAeCCf It is a lovely spring day in 1976. Would you like to join us in a super- jet aircraft to visit the Senior Class of 1956? Our first stopping place is New York City where we find the former Donna Cornelsen the head supervisor at the largest hospital in New York City. She greets us with the same cheerful smile that we remember from our days at M. B. A. Donna is a very capable nurse, as well as a charming wife and mother. In Detroit, Michigan, Abie Hamm is teaching music to high school students. He tells us that he no longer has that tragic facial expression when he sings be- cause he noticed too many of his students imitating him. Lavina Friesen is astonished when we slip into her schoolroom near Tahle- quah Oklahoma. She tells us that she enjoys teaching in the elementary school under the direction of the Go Ye Mission. Our next stop is in Chicago, where we decide to visit the famous art gallery. The first painting we notice is strikingly beautiful. Examining it more closely, we notice Herman Reimer's initals, and at the same time he comes to greet us. Later, he introduces us to his wife, and his redhaired children; all are artisti- cally minded. In an isolated part of India, the former Alice Zielke and her Husband are engaged in mission work. While we are chatting with them, several Indians shyly come forward to greet us. They tell us that they like to have Alice sing for them. Donald Isaac has chosen the unique occupation of test-driving Lincoln cars. However, he informs us that his wife is begging him to quit this dangerous occupation. Arriving in Belgian Congo, Africa at midnight, we find Frances Classen, R. N. still at work in her dispen«ary. She has to work hard, but she is happy and serene. We decided to visit Donald Classen next. Arriving at his large, prosperous farm near Ogden, Utah, we see him coaching his pretty wife and six daughters in basketball. Donald grins broadly as he tells us that his wife and daughters are very good basketball players. Our next stop is in San Francisco, California where Margaret Goossen is an instructor at the school of nursing in one of the larger hospitals. The eager attention the student nurses give her as she lectures assures us that she is a successful teacher. Merlin Thiessen is an engineer in a huge industrial plant in Houston, Texas. A visit with him reveals that he has prospered greatly. The new Lincoln that he drives is quite a change from the old Chevrolet he used to drive to M. B. A. In Seattle, Washington we meet Shirley Friesen. She is the head librarian in the city's largest library. The happy, contented expression on her face tells us that she enjoys her paradise of books. Martin Reimer greets us as we land at the airport in Cheyenne Wyoming. His fancy cowboy deeds reveal his prosperity as a rancher. At his 2,000 acre ranch we meet Martin's wife and the four little cowboys. Arriving at the Rhodeheaver Conservatory of Music at Winona Lake, Indiana w e are delighted to meet the former Darlene Classen. Darlene and her husband are both employed as music instructors at the Conservatory. Inviting us to their home they entertain us with a lovely musical concert. Menno Classen, who was the first member of our class to be married, is now living near Minneapolis, Minnesota. His beaming face portrays his pride and joy as he introduces his wife and triplets. Menno is Minnesota's number one soil conservationist. The last classmate, Elda Friesen, is found in Paris, France, where she is a noted surgeon in the city's largest hospital. In speaking to a few of her patients we find that they highly recommend her to anyone needing a surgeon. 1. Beautiful hands. 2. Why weepest thou? Nervous? 4. Sour puss. 5. Tiny! I 6.
