Boys Basketball For 1988 Year To Be Proud Of” The Mead Boys Basketball team, led by their first year coach Jerry Buck, was in celebrating shock after winning the State Football Championship. The jubulation of this carried right into the basket- ball court for the first two or three games leading right up to the Holiday Tournament. They got last in the tournament out of four teams. They lost to East Butler in the first game by nine and in the second game they lost to Cedar Bluffs by nine. After that tourna- ment, their record was 4-3. This tournament indicated to them that they needed to start playing some basketball. After that they went on a rampage winning thirteen of their last fifteen games including wins over Yutan, Neumann and winning the Conference Tourna- ment by defeating Yutan, for the second time this season. In the final game; when they came from behind by ten in the second half; they won by three points. Mead's season came to a disappointing ending when they lost to Cedar Bluffs in Sub-District play. Mead had a season they could be proud of ending at 17-5. Watch out Michael Jordan' Long time no see Gordy What form Rob Oops, Sorry Doug you can have it” 28 BASKETBALL
