HOMECOMING ROYALTY 1987-1988 The proud 1987-88 King and Queen! Douglas Langemeier,LeAnne Gustaf- son This year the dance didn’t follow the game, instead the dance was the following night. Before the dance started the King and Queen and their attendents were announced. LeAnne Gustaf- son was chosen Queen and Doug Langemeier was cho- sen King. The dress up days for the week were: Crazy Hair and Sign your Tee-Shirt, In- side out, Come as you are, Western day and Red and White Day.The Raiders played the Waterloo Pan- thers. THE FOUR RETURN- ING LETTER WINNERS WERE SHERI HUDDLE, LEANNE GUSTAF- SON. JODIE ASPER AND AMY HALBMAIER. THE CAPTAINS WERE SHERI HUDDLE AND LEANNE GUS- TAFSON. THE LADY RAIDERS CONSIS- TENTLY IMPROVED THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. THE LOW POINT OF THE SEASON WAS LOSING TO CE- DAR BLUFFS THE LAST HOME REGULAR SEASON GAME. AFTER CONCENTRATING ON THE MENTAL ASPECT OF THE GAME, THE LADY RAIDERS WON THE ECNC TOUR- NAMENT AVENGING TWO PREVI- OUS LOSES TO CEDAR BLUFFS. FT. CALHOUN AND BEATING WEEP- ING WATER IN FINALS. THE BATTLE WASN'T OVER BECAUSE SUB-DIS- TRICTS WERE THE FOLLOWING WEEK WITH A FACE TO FACE CON- FRONTATION WITH HOLY NAME AND CEDAR BLUFFS. WITH CON- SISTENT TEAM LEADERSHIP AND UNITY BOTH WERE WINS FOR MEAD. THE DISTRICT PLAY-OFFS WERE AT ASHLAND AGAINST WEEPING WATER. ANOTHER RE- MATCH OF THE SEASON. FORTU- NATELY, OUR CONFIDENCE STOOD FIRM TO OVER COME A FIRST SET LOSE 17-19, AND WIN THE FINAL TWO 15-1, 15-1. BE- CAUSE OF THE SERVING OF SHERI HUDDLE THE LADY RAIDERS WERE STATEBOUND. PLAYING THE BEST POSSIBLE. THE LADY RAIDERS PLAYED RESPECTFUL BUT CAME UP SHORT 15-13, 15-12. THE SEA- SON ENDED 15-5 WITH WELL EAR- NED INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM HON- ORS. SHERI HUDDLE RECEIVED ALL- ECNC 1ST TEAM. ALL WAHOO AREA 1ST TEAM AND ALL-STATE HONORABLE MENTION. LEANNE GUSTAFSON WAS SELECTED ALL ECNC 1ST TEAM. ALL WAHOO AREA 1ST TEAM AND HONORARY CAPTAIN AND ALL STATE HONOR- ABLE MENTION. JODIE ASPER GOT ALL ECNC 2ND TEAM. ALL WAHOO AREA 2ND TEAM.
