The highlight for this year was when the Raider Basketball team made it to the State Tournaments. Schultz The Student Council is made up of two members from each class, grades 8-12. Their main function is to help the Pep Club pay for Homecoming, and to be the spokesman for fhe whole student body. They also showed a movie at Christmas, sponsored by the School Board. National Honor Society To be selected for National Honor Society you must meet the four qualifications for membership. They are scholarship, service, leadership, and character. They must also have a minimum grade point average of 90%. The Raiders con- quered their first two opponents, then ran into trouble later in the year, ending with a 4-5 record. Robert Treptow made All Conference - defensive back, also All Area 1st team - offense. Craig Moline made Honorable Mention All Conference - line backer, also Wahoo 1st team - offense. Kevin Konecky made Honor- able Mention All Conference, also Wahoo 2nd team. Tom Simon made Wahoo 2nd team. The '85 Raiders will be losing 8 seniors and the Coaching Staff: Delvin Ortgies and Dan Dornbush who have given the seniors 4 years of good coaching. Toad goes up high. 27 MEAD RAIDERETTES The Mead Raiderettes had an exceptional season with a record of 11-8. The girls took first place in the Mead Invitational Tourna- ment, with the final round against a tough Lincoln Christian team. The girls also won the battle against Holy Name in District finals and became C-2 Dis- trict Champions. The Raiderettes then pro- gressed into Regional playoffs. Calhoun 71-34. After rolling over the next three opponents, the Raiders suffered their first loss at the hands of Vutan with a 49-47 loss in the Holiday Tourney. They finished the tourney with an impressive win over East Butler with the score of 53-40. The Raiders got back on the way to winning by out scoring 9 of their next 10 opponents. In the Conference the Raiders averaged just under 75 points a game, with their opponents average score of 38 points. The last weekend of the regular season did not end the way the Raiders wanted it to end. They lost both the Friday and the Saturday games against Conestoga and Louisville. The Raiders worked their way through Districts by out playing Holy Name and Cedar Bluffs. The Raiders then revenged their loss to Scribner in the regular season by out scoring the Trojans. The Raiderettes were also ECNC champs. There were many records broken by the team and individually during the season. Staci Hass finished with the best Field Goal percentage of 54% Kristen Hannan had the best Free Throw percentage of 70% The individual with the highest points in a game was Staci Hass with 23 followed by Kristen Hannan with 18. Anita Luetkenhaus had the most assists with 100 and also the most steals with 58. The Raiderettes will lose only one Senior - Kristen Hannan - therefore the team is looking for a great season next year with seven returning letter winners. Sink-it!
