IS DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF OUR SUPERINTENDENT WHO SERVED THE MEAD COM- MUNITY FOR 12 YEARS. WHILE SERVING AS SUPERINTENDENT OF MEAD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MR. WESTERGARD, AFTER A BRIEF ILL- NESS. DIED ON JUNE 13, 1979, AT THE AGE OF 59. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN FREMONT. NEBRASKA WITH INTERNMENT IN WISNER CEMETERY, WISNER, NEBRASKA. MR. WESTERGARD ATTENDED RURAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 66 IN CUMMING COUNTY AND WAS GRADUATED FROM WISNER HIGH SCHOOL IN 1937. HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING WORLD WAR II IN THE U.S. NAVY. MR. WESTERGARD ATTENDED MIDLAND COLLEGE AND WAS GRADUATED FROM WAYNE STATE COLLEGE, WAYNE. NEBRASKA IN 1949, RECEIVING HIS MASTERS DEGREE IN 1953. FROM COLORADO STATE COLLEGE IN GREELEY. COLORADO. HE ALSO SERVED AS SUPERINTENDENT AT DUNCAN. WINSIDE, OSMOND AND WAYNE, IN NEBRASKA, AND STILLMAN VALLEY, ILLINOIS. INCLUDING 12 YEARS AT MEAD, MR. WESTERGARD SERVED A TOTAL OF 30 YEARS AS SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS. HE ATTENDED THE CHURCH OF OUR REDEEMER IN WAHOO, NEBRASKA: WAS A MEMBER OF V.F.W.
