Boys’ Track The Mead boys track team was a large one this year. They had two boys qualify for the state track meet. Jim Shires and K. Carden were the two qualifiers and Jim came home with a 3rd in the 440 with a time of 50:8. It was just one of the many records the Mead team broke this year. M. The new Husker Five Champs receive their trophy. Success was the word for Mead's volleyball team. Besides compiling a 20-2 record, the girls captured two firsts. One was the important J.F. K. Invitational Champion- ship. The other first was not a new one. Once again the girls succeeded in winning the Husker Five Conference with victories over Cedar Bluffs and Prague. Mead suf- fered its only two losses in the Waverly Tourna- ment where they placed fourth. Paula goes up to the net to slam another spike!! 22
