Reflections of 69 69 - Sixty-nine - LXIX Just as it can be written many ways The year 69 means many things to many people. For the volleyball team it meant a successful season with two championships. Our basketball team this year showed promise for upcoming years. To the seniors it was a sentimental year - Their last at ole M.H.S. For the freshmen it was the beginning of four long hard years. For some 69 was a year to forget For others a year they will always cherish. The 69 yearbook is dedicated to showing what 69 meant to the students at M. H. S. We, the staff, invite you to open the pages of this book to reflect back upon 69. 2 Dedicated to Nancy Lee Schneider Nancy was honored in High School by being chosen Homecoming queen, cheerleader, class officer, play usher, prom server, Graduation Grand Marshall, and FFA Sweetheart. She was on the honor roll, and participated in the class plays and musical activities. She was well-liked and popular with all, and maintained loyal friendships whether at home, school, or work. Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Mead Public School and continued her educational training in business at the School of Commerce in Omaha, where she maintained high honors. In April, 1968, Nancy graduated from C.E. only to be felled by a lingering illness in May. Though she passed away, her friendships and memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. It is to her memory that we dedicate the 1969 Raider. 3 Table of Contents Introduction......... 2 Dedication............3 Table of Contents.... 4 Administration........5 Classes.............. 9 Athletics........... 17 Organizations...... 27 Activities...........37 Grades.............. 49 Conclusion.......... 53 Statistics...........54 Index................55 ADMINISTRATION Faculty STANLEY WESTERGARD Superintendent of Mead Public School Senior Class Sponsor LLOYD LAMB Principal of Mead Am. Besides compiling a 20-2 record, the girls captured two firsts. One was the important J.F. K. Invitational Champion- ship. The other first was not a new one. Once again the girls succeeded in winning the Husker Five Conference with victories over Cedar Bluffs and Prague. Mead suf- fered its only two losses in the Waverly Tourna- ment where they placed fourth. Paula goes up to the net to slam another spike!! 22 Boys’ Track The Mead boys track team was a large one this year. They had two boys qualify for the state track meet. Jim Shires and K. The Banquet for prom this year was held at Fairview in the party room. After a delici- ous supper had been served, the Class History, Class F rophecy, and Class Will was read. Mr. Larry Meyer, former Math teacher at Mead, then gave a speech on HAPPINESS. Time was slowly creeping up which meant the dance was about to begin. At 9 everyone was back in Mead at the new Centennial Building. The Krystals then provided the rest of the entertainment for the evening. Jim lost his life in Tay Ninh Pro- vince on February 22, 1969. In 1969, we see reflections of exciting games, noisy rooms, and quiermoments. Through the halls of Mead High School came these memories that will remain with us as the Reflections of 1969 at our school, MHS. 53 Senior Statistics GERRI ANDERSEN - Chorus - 1,2,3,4; Girls Glee - 1,2,3,4; Small Groups - 4; Class Plays - 3,4; One Act Play - 4; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Library Club - 3,4; Officer - 3; Journalism - 3 MICKEY COADY - Band - 1; Football - 1,2,3,4; Basketball - 1,2,3,4; Track - 1,3,4; Prom Server - 2; FFA - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 1,3,4; M Club - 1,2; Homecoming King - 4; Journalism - 3,4; Play Usher - 4; Football All Area Second Team - 4; Football All Conference Second Team - 4; Honor Roll - 4 NATHALEE FOSTER - Chorus - 1; Class Play - 4; Y-Teens - 2; Transfer from Clarinda, Iowa - 4 ROXANN HAGEMAN - Volleyball - 1,2,3; Track - 3; Chorus - 1,2,3,4; Girls Glee - 1,2,3,4; Small Groups - 3,4; Class Plays - 3,4; Operetta - 4; FHA - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 4; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Library Club - 3,4; Officer - 3,4; Journalism - 3 KAREN HANSON - Volleyball - 1,2,3; Track - 3,4; Chorus - 1,2,3,4; Girls Glee - 1,2,3,4; Small Groups - accompanist - 2,3,4; Scholarship - 1,2,4; Honor Roll - 1,2,3,4; Class Plays - 3,4; Thespians - 3,4; Operetta - 4; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Math Club - 1,2,3,4; Band - 1,2,3,4 RICHARD HASSLER - Football - 1,2; Basketball - 1,2,3; Chorus - 1,2; Class Officer - 1,2; Student Council - 3; Class Plays - 3,4; Play Usher - 3,4; Graduation Usher - 3; Prom Server - 2; FFA - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 1,2,3,4; M Club - 1,2; Journalism - 4; Honor Roll - 1,2 GAIL HILFIKER - Volleyball - 2; Student Manager - 3,4; Track - 3; Chorus - 1; Band - 1,2,3,4; Small Group - 4; Honor Roll - 4; Class Plays - 3,4; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 4; Library Club - 3,4; Officer 3,4; Journalism - 4 BOB HAMS - Chorus - 1,2,3; Class Plays - 3,4; Operetta - 3; FFA - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 1; Journalism - 3, PHILLIP JOHNSON - Chorus - 1; Honor Roll - 1,2; Class Officer - 3; Student Council - 1,4; Officer - 4; Class Plays - 2,3,4; Thespians - 3,4; Officer - 4; One Act Play - 3; Play Usher - 3; Graduation Grand Marshall - 3; Prom Server - 2; FFA - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 1,3,4; FHA Beau - 3; Homecoming First Attend- ant - 4; Band - 1,2,3,4; State FFA Band - 2; National FFA Band - 4; State FFA President - 69-70 DEBBIE PARSONS - Volleyball - 1,2,3,4; Chorus - 1.2,3,4; Girls Glee - 1,2,3.4; Class Plays - 3,4; Play Usher - 4; Prom Server - 2; FHA - 2,3,4; Officer - 4; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Officer - 4; FFA Sweetheart Attendant - 3 MARY LOU RADENSLABEN - Track - 3; Chorus - 1,2; Girls Glee - 1,2; Scholarship - 1,2,4; Honor Roll - 1,2,3,4; Class Plays - 3,4; Thespians - 2,3,4; One Act Play - 3,4; Prom Server - 2; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Math Club - 2,3; Library Club - 3; Band - 1,2,3,4 nAULA SCOLES - Volleyball - 1,2,3,4; Chorus - 1,2,3,4; Girls Glee - 1,2,3,4; Small Groups - 2,3,4; cholarship - 1,2,3,4; Honor Roll - 1,2,3,4; Class Officer - 1,3,4; Student Council - 2; Class Plays - 3, ; Play Usher - 4; Thespians - 3,4; Operetta - 3; Pep Club - 1,2,3,4; Cheerleader - 4; Math Club - 3; omecoming First Attendant - 4; National Honor Society - 4; FFA Sweetheart Attendant - 3; Band - 1,2; tty Crocker Award - 4; Miss Merry Christmas - 4; JFK V.B.
