FOREWORD ’T'm the Spirit that which is in- tangible. It is the inspiration of the whole school. It is what motivated the sports events, the organization, and the Raider activities which are drawing us closer to a understanding of education. This never ending spirit develops the students of today into the adults of tomorrow, to work, to grow, and to live will be mystically revealed in the fol- lowing pages. I am the Spirit of Learning , the green freshmen; silly sophs; jolly juniors; and dignified seniors; these ad- jectives apply to none of us all the time and to all of us some of the time. The challenges, ac- tivities, and studies all have shed a continuous development, and strength for us. As an individual or as a class it is All for one and one for all --the true spirit of Mead High. A senior at last! You kept repeating the phrase as if it held a certain air of magic. It hardly seems possible that four years could go so fast and yet hold so many memories of M.H.S. Little things took on special significance, each event became a memorable occasion. New friends, became old ones, and older ones became dearer. And we attended each event with the very phrase, This is the last . . . . The last pep rally, the last class play, and the Junior- Senior picnic. You took part in all the senior activities but suddenly May came before you realized it, and the year came to an end. You are now ready for the all important step out of the halls of M.H.S. Here's to the seniors, an important part of Alma Mater, Mead High . The seniors discovered a new and confusing way to make mon- ey— they set up a boardinghouse in their senior class play. THE BOARDINGHOUSE REACH . This was Wilbur Maxwell's way to earn money for a bicycle that he had tried so desperately to get. Things went 'round and 'round. Finally it's discovered that somebody in the house is a bank robber, before the mess was finally straightened out Wilbur had his bicycle and the audience was dead with laughter over the antics and the zany characters. The mystery comedy play was set up in the west and centered around a group of dudes who were trapped in an opera house in a ghost town by an old Prospector. Suspense built up when it was found that the opera house was to be blown up in a few hours for a high- way. The play used very unusual methods of staging, when the whole gym became the stage. . The basic incentive for learning is awakened when a child be- comes curious and asks his first question. Throughout childhood and youth this questioning con- tinues as does the corresponding increase in learning. To progress in his quest for knowledge, the student must often seek things out in a concentrated matter; he must drive deeper into fields which catch his interest, and conquer that which challenges him. Through questions, through the seeking of satisfactory an- swers to them, and through the ultimate finding of these answers --we gain progressive knowledge.
