THE '51 ROCKETSHIP The year 1976 finds an elderly man polishing his rocketship, The Senior ’51 . The manis Mr. Anderson who piloted the Senior Class of '51 through their last year in high school. His thoughts fall back through the years to 1951 and he wonders where the class is scattered. He gives the space-ship a few more touches and decides to zoom through the air with a destination of visiting his class. He climbs into the pilot seat and the motor gives a welcome swish. Memories become much clearer when he spies Arnold Kudlacek coaching a famous basketball team to the national honors. Ah yes, thought Mr. Anderson, that is the same old Kuddy who was the center for two years at good old Mead High. The rocketship zooms low over a large high and there at the front of the French class- room stands Gwen Hageman. Say, it looks as if those students are really enjoying their French lesson too! Mr. Anderson had to give the rocketship a little more speed to the left so as to miss running into a big hospital which is situated in the east. Well, look there. That must be Virginia Moser! And she's the head nurse in that great big hospital. I guess the summer's work in Omaha helped her career. Flying low over a city, let me see it must be Fremont, Mr. Anderson sees Delmar Sagert walking the streets still looking. A little past Fremont he spies a Guernsey Ranch and Delores Magnuson is the owner of this beautiful spread. Not far from here we find a small school with Kathryn Leaf as the school marm . Mr. Anderson while quietly cruising in his rocketship notices he has a copy of the famous Chicago Highlight beside him. He picks it up and turns to the Society Page where he sees a blazing headline Your Broken Heart edited by the most famous problem solver since Mary Lane. Who else could it be but Dorothy Ostry. Mr. Anderson realized he has not yet located all the graduates of '51 as yet so he continues on in search of the rest of them. All of a sudden he spies two wealthy farmers arguing over the fence line. Drawing nearer he sees it is Adrian Sabatka and Melvin Carlson having a friendly argument. Flying at a moderate altitude Mr. Anderson goes past a T. W. A. airliner. He catch- es a glimpse of the stewardess and realizes it is none other than Delores Seety. On his inter-com system he picks up some sweet accordian music. The announcer identifies the accordionist as Durene Drews, accomplished musician. The rocket is now flying over New York where we see a blonde model styling the latest ice skating suit of the season. She is doing the figure 8 just like Sonje Heine. Who else can it be but Margaret Ueberrhein. Leaving New York Mr. Anderson has only one member of the '51 party left to visit. After quite a long flight he looks down and sees a ship docked in Calcutta and identifies the skipper as Bill Armold. After this last visit Mr. Anderson heads the Senior '51 homeward, and in a short time he is back in Mead reviewing the places he has been.
