Football Meads' football team went into action on September 17 after being invited into the city league to make an even number of schools par- ticipating in the valley Merry-Go -Round Game. The first kickoff was West Valley kicking to Mead who held on to the ball and gave us the yardage advantage of 79 to 1 to win the first quarter. In the second quarters' action Gonzaga downed Central Valley which left the two valley schools to battle the third quarter and end- ing with West Valley ahead. , Beginning the final quarter in which Gonzaga and Mead battled for the championship with a close start for both but ending with Gon- zaga on top 12-0. The next night Mead traveled to Colville to participate in another Merry-Go-Round in which they fought long ana hard. But as the quar- ters went by and victories were won. Mead took fourth. In league competition Mead found only one equal. It went through the leagues' five games with only one loss, to Chewelah, for a tie with Deer Park, in obtaining the Northeast Washington Class A Title. During the season Mead played Ephrata who was the number 1 team in the state last year, to a 13-13 tie. Later in the season Mead ventured off into Idaho to play Moscow, a triple A school. Both schools played a hard game but Moscow won '7 -6. For the last game of the season Mead rnet West Valley on November 11 at West Valley. It was an exciting and important game with West Valley coming out on top by a score of 32 to 0. Mead finished a very happy season with a total of 5 wins and 3 losses and a tie for the league cham- pionship. MR. JAMES N. 3036 Monroe PARISH 8a SELLS FLOWER '
