Mac Hi ended the season in a blaze of glory by cop- ping three first places and three seconds at the Eastern Oregon Tournament and qualifying for State- in six events: Debate, with a team of Larry Lutcher, Jean Snow, and Ruth Orwickg Oratory-Jean Snow: Poetry-Can lene Faires: Serious Reading-Shirley Cutshallg Radio - Larry Lutcherg and After Dinner Speaking - ,lean Snow. Jean covered herself with glory at State by getting third in After Dinner, finals in Oratory, and being a member of the debate team which took fourth place in the State. Final tabulations showed the debaters victorious in 40 out of 61 contests. ln five tournaments. Mac Hi speakers gained four first places, five seconds. one third and four fourths. Duane has gone through the rank of the F.F.A program with an excellent record. Starting his Freshman year Duane was elected president of his Ag 1 Class, and during his Sopho more year he became active in public speaking and parliamen tary procedure. His Junior year he was elected vice president of the Chapter. He also won the District Public Speaking Contest and led his chapter into second place in the Parllamen tary Contest. His Senior year he showed his greatest advance ment. He again won the district public speaking contest was president of the winning parliamentary team: he was elected president of the chapter. President of the Blue Mt. District and to top his activities, he was elected president of the State Asso ciation of F.F.A. Besides his leadership and ability, he has established a wonderful supervised farming program, won his State Farmer Degree, is an applicant for the Standard Oil Company Scholar ship, and the Union Pacific Railroad Scholarship .-if 'Uhr Mrs. Bill York presents Ronald Hoon. The McLoughlin Chapter rated third in the state chapter contest and placed fifth in the livestock judging at the State Fair. Arlen Buroker, past state president from this chapter, was awarded the American Farmer Degreeg Duane Rencken won the district public speaking contest, and the parliamentary team placed second.
