Produced by' McLaurin Annual McLaurin Attendance Center Florence, Mississippi Our theme Country Tigers was chosen so that we could play up the fact that we attend a country school in the sticks and that we're proud of it! We think we have the best of both worlds, we live close enough to the lackson Metropolitan area to get there in less than thirty minutes. When we come home we leave the heavy traffic, noise, pollution, and congested areas for the peace and beauty of the country life. It is evident that people from all walks of life are beginning to appreciate the value of country living. For instance, country music is hear that city people have to take a drive in the country to relax. All we have to do is sit in a rocking chair on our front porch and we have green grass, blue skies, beautiful meadows, and trees within our sights. What could be more relaxing than that? Through the pages of this book you will notice we use slang expressions, colloquialisms and, at times, poor grammar. Our attempt is not to make fun of anyone or of anyone's lifestyle, but to affectionately imitate the ways of country life while at the same time create lasting and wonderful memories of this school year for the students here at McLaurin. C. Cole, Wayne Rogers, and Terry Brister head coach The managers are 86 Matt Wheatley, 865 Lee Benton, 840 Pete Abel, 314 William Pittman, and 88 Scott Lee. These Tigers had a very successful season winning 8 out of 10 games. As a result they were invited to play in the Mid-State Bowl against Raymond at Florence. Not only did McLaurin have to battle Raymond for the title but also the elements. To say it rained is putting it mildly. It is hard for us to believe that we have finally completed the job, we began last April, when we attended the Taylor Yearbook Seminar at Millsaps: The one day event gave the new members of our staff a chance to see what they had to look forward to, and also some of what we had to dread, like quad-paks, gutters, bleeding, etc. It also gave us all an enthusiasm which has helped us through the tough times. We did the actual planning for the book in June when we attended the four day Yearbook Workshop at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. We had a good time at the workshop, but we also learned a lot and got a lot of work done. At the banquet held the final day we received one of six Superior awards for the work we had done on our yearbook. Needless to say we were thrilled, especially since we were competing against schools of all sizes from all over the state. Along with the great satisfaction we feel having completed this annual, there is a note of sadness because it brings us closer to the time that five of the six members of our staff graduate.
