Swimming In the beginning, what fate had in store for us was largely unknown. Graduation had robbed us of many keys to past titles. Was a sixth City- Catholic title too much to ask for? This was our question at the outset of the season. Mr. Tobin had told us that if we were going to pull it off, it would have to be a team effort. The task at hand; to utilize everyone to their fullest potential. Tobin’s method was working again: suddenly, everyone was performing. Libutti just kept on breaking records all the way to a sectional championship. Holly outdistanced his opposition throughout the whole season. Bill’s dives were near perfection, and O'Hara, Lauth, and Schifino just kept on getting better. Even Brophy and Mahoney stepped into the spotlight. We were all contributing to the legend: McQuaid’s sixth straight City-Catholic champion- ship (and 52 straight victories as a bonus). The legend was made up of agony, victory, fun anda whole education in itself. We are proud, and especially proud of the man with the funny hat. Six titles, 52 straight victories — what more could you ask for? Thank you for leading us, Mr. Tobin; thank you for showing us what it is to be the best. Terry, Eddie, and all the rest of the seniors leave you with our sincere appreciation: “What has been instilled, will never be forgotten.”
