Swimming “Memories are made of this.” You never really forget. The good and bad go hand in hand. However, there was no bad. It was win- ning, an undefeated year. Again. All the anx- ious, breath-holding seconds, the cramps, the screaming muscles, the bleary -chlorined eyes danced with joy when the clash with Marshall ended and we realized we were No. 1. Everything seemed worth it: all the hours on hours pushing and lapping through the pools, all the long bus and car rides to the meets with time to nag us with questions of doubt, with time to wonder and worry. We knew we were good; that Mr. Tobin had honed us in his tac- tical fashion to be a team. We were a dynasty; we were the Green Bay Packers, the old New York Yankees of City Catholic Swimming. Could we do it again? Would not having our own pool, the ‘better times’’ posted by others catch up with us and serve to lift the crown from our head? Well, it never happened. We sprinted, sput- tered, and splashed to victory after victory. It was exciting, exhilarating. It was a year filled with joy and memories. It was a year that cli- maxed with the squeaking but so satisfying win over undefeated Marshall. Memories? What a silly question.
