Student Government Executive Council: Mark Borkowski, Michael Seifert, Larry Searles; Missing: Ron Rosati. Different. That sums up McQuaid’s Student Government this year. Take the President (please), Mike Seifert, ‘the Doc” as he’s fondly known. He would acknowledge the nickname because of his incisive mind and competency for diagnostic analysis. Others would suggest less flattering reasons. However, it is a fact he owns and operates a quiet disposition, graced by a slow and deep pitched voice. Now, the Vice-President, Mark Borkowski, is, well, he’s different! He has been accused of being Mike’s son. He’s small and sports not a quiet, but an unquiet disposition with a rapid and high pitched voice. Temperamentally, even politically, they stand poles apart (no pun intended). Yet they harmonized well and Mc- Quaid benefited. They had different approach- es to Student Government, perhaps best de- scribed as informal and formal, but somehow it worked. All the disparate groups in the school had something to identify with in some facet of the two “fearless leaders”. Our financial wizard, Larry Searles, with deadly calculator and ledger kept the books balanced and proved invaluable by taking the V.P. to the Ontario Free Clinic once a month for his hormone injection. Then there was secretary Ron Rosati, who never removed his funny-looking hat, but al- ways provided manageable and “natural’’ ad- vice. McQuaid’s Student Government was a mot- ley group, but they worked well together. Dif- ferent? Indeed, still, it was a very good year for McQuaid. T.G. for our S.G. George Ringholz, Brian Scott, Mike Marchese.
