Soccer Before the season began, the team was just a big question mark, It seemed as if we were destined for the cellar. Mr. Marcello got married and couldn't find time for us. Only three starters were returning, along with most of last year’s bench. August 31 rolled around, and our first practice inspired little hope. But our new coach, Mr. Arms trong, kept telling us that we would be okay, and that the sectionals were not out of reach. Bucky, finding this very hard to believe, just kept on working. The first game wasn’t supposed to be much of a test (Mon- roe), but we fell behind early by two goals. Even so, we battled back to win 6-3. Armstrong told us that a mark of a good team was to be able to come from behind and win. Our confidence grew. We finished 10-3, and anxiously awaited the sectionals, being the only Catholic team in the tourney. However the undefeated powerhouse from Penfield pulverized our chances of advancing in the tournament. The defensive corps of Bucky, Squek, Ozzie, and sometimes Seg provided the backbone for this exceptional squad.
