In their Final year at MHS, the seniors somehow took the roles of upperclass leaders to serve as examples to the rest ofthe student body. As club ofhcers, star athletes, or selected honorees, they demanded attention and respect- and usually only received the former. They carried out their responsibilities to their best ofability. 'gPillow Talkw was chattered amidst crowded halls as a smashing success, and all took pride in being part of the class of '67. lt was the year for honors. Scholarship grants were awarded, abilities recognized, and LaNora, Cathy, Susan, Marcia, and Vicki crowned. There was concentration on studying as college entrance tests were never completely out of mind, but fun and relaxation were never far from easy accessibility. They experienced a first in having a senior banquet to themselves instead of with underclassmen. And, as though it were a planned signal, this banquet began the end of high school life. Reins of leadership were abandoned National Honor Society announced, skip day survived, May Day memories blurred in a maze offloats, bands, carnival rides, and cotton candy, final exams struggled through, and ultimately- caps and gowns donned. Commencement brought a deluge of remembrances and realizations that farewells were forever. Thus, new walks oflife were tread upon with tender steps. Some to college, some to marriage, some to the service. . . but all to happiness through ingrown maturity.
