FI E ART Mrs. Kohler plays over some new music she plans to teach her classcs. In order to instill an appreciation ofthe cultural aspects of life, MHS has always-active instrumental, vocal, and art depart- ments. To give basic training in the fundamentals of music is the ma- jor objective of the music instructors, Mrs. Mildred Kohler, Mrs. Ruth Thorstenberg, and Mr, Bryce Luty. Also, per- forming and solo techniques are emphasized. Uperating under the direction of Nfrs. Elizabeth Lilgegren, art students may receive instruction in areas ranging from elementary drawing to art history to pottery making. HOME ECO OMIC A D VOCATIO AL AGRICULTURE Checking sewing projects is Mrs. Hill, Mr. Schrag points out qualities of healthy wheat. To strive towards more emcient and enjoyable homemaking is the objective in Mrs, Constance Hill's homemaking classes. In home economics, skill, practice, and training are necessary to produce that flawless casserole or a neatly-tailored dress. Yet, love and practical judgment must be exerted to the utmost de- gree and mingled with knowledge. Home living provides an opportunity to learn more specialized lessons, such as interior decorating, planning a wedding, and child care. In all, more successful home life is derived. Under the direction of the Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical Program, courses offered by Mr. Dick Ramsdale and Mr. Delbert Schrag served as valuable training for boys interested in agricultural careers. In vocational agriculture, such things as livestock and poultry judging are emphasized, giving the boys an insight to practical aspects of farm living. Agricultural mechanics teaches a working knowledge of farm implements - a valuable asset to any foreseeable future on a farm. Home Ec. girls demonstrate their cooking ability. Use that machine carefully, warns Mr. Rams- ale.
