This building, named and dedicated during Home- coming on October 18, honors Dr. Burton Metzler, professor emeritus of philosophy and religion. With this expansion of the men's facilities, Vaniman Hall and the top Hoor of Kline were not used. The contemporary horizontal lines of Metzler Hall's red brick and concrete construc- tion harmonized with the architectural pattern of the three-year-old Student Union and with that of Mohler Hall, Brown Auditorium, and Dotzour Hall. Installation of air conditioning in the Student Union brought this cool comfort to a total of four buildings. Finally a dream came true when the Student Council organized a walk-in book store in the Student Union. . , , . Mohler Hall controls the flow of grades, money, and administra tive affairs. Sixty-two seniors participated in the teach- ing block, spending nine weeks in classrooms in Hutchinson, Galva, Moundridge, Windom, Inman, Buhler, and McPherson. Some were the first student teachers in McPherson's unique hexagonal high school. Forty per cent of the seniors were married. From this class came the president of the Student Council, three Spectator editors, the manager of the book store, and the Quadrangle editor and business manager. 60 MARILYN ALBIN Education and Psychology DAVID AN DERS History FRED ATKINS Sociology ROY BACKHUS Economics and Business Administration PEGGY BAKER Education and Psychology LE WAYNE BARTEL Agriculture fi VIRGINIA BARTLETT Education and Psychology LOIS BEERY Sociology BILL BORTH Economics and Business Administration JUDY BOYD Education and Psychology RONALD BOYD Agriculture TEDD BRUMBAUGH History Seniors gp MERRILL COULSON History ROBERT CRABB History MERLIN DRESHER Economics and Business Administration KATHY DUNCAN Chemistry BARBARA ELMORE Economics and Business Administration ROGER EMMERT Mathematics JIM BURNETT Music BETTY BYBEE Education and Psychology JAY CAN NON History ARNOLD CA NTU Agriculture DOROTHY CHALOUPKA Biology LINDA COULSON English O KENNETH FEASENHISER History LOIS FRUTH Education and Psychology NGGIDA GADZAMA Biology FAYE GIBBEL Sociology MURIEL GIBSON Home Economics SILVIA GRIGGS Education and Psychology EVELYN GROVE Economics and Business Administration DONNA HAMILTON Education and Psychology WARREN HARDEN Music JOHN HARRISON English CHARLES HARTMAN Sociology CAROL HESS Education and Psychology Seniors HELEN jACOBY Philosophy and Religion LINDA JAMISON History BEVERLY JUDGE Philosophy and Religion GEORGE KEGIN Education and Psychology BILL KELLY Economics and Business Administration KAREN KELLY Education and Psychology EVA HIRST Education and Psychology BRUCE I-IOLDERREED Biology SHERYL HOLLIS Home Economics OMA HOLTjE Education and Psychology DONA HUTCHISON Home Economics RUTH IRWIN Sociology 64 l JOYCE KING Education and Psychology ROLLAND KIRACOFE Economics and Business Administration BILL KLEIN Industrial Arts MARLYS KLESSIG Education and Psychology DOUG KNEHANS Economics and Business Administration ROLLAND KREIDER Industrial Arts RALPH KREUTZIGER Industrial Arts DON KUHLMAN Philosophy and Religion RON LEONARD Mathematics WILLIAM LOEWEN Chemistry MARILYN MARSH History JOHN MARTIN Chemistry Seniors V569 'Tif- WAYNE MORITZ Agriculture DENNIS MOYER Biology JANICE MYERS Education and Psychology JIM NEHER Music ORVILLE NEUFELD Education and Psychology KENNETH PARKS History DANIEL MERKEY Biology ALLAN MILLER History EARL MILLER Economics and Business Administration MARGIE MILLER Education and Psychology LENA MIYASAKI Education and Psychology STEPHEN MOHLER Biology ALLEN PAULS Education and Psychology JERRY POFF Biology SHARON POF F History DELORES PRIDDY Education and Psychology BETTE QUIRING English LINDA RADKE Education and Psychology JOHN RATZLAFF History ROBERT REAZIN Agriculture HAROLD SCHRAG Education and Psychology KAY SHEVER Education and Psychology LYNN SORENSON Education and Psychology MARJORIE SPEARS Education and Psychology Seniors l TERRY TIETJENS Music JANET TOBIAS Education and Psychology CALVIN UNRUH Economics and Business Administration ELA I NE VANCE Mathematics SHIRLEY VANDERAU Mathematics CHRIS VAN DE VELDE History DARYL STANDAFER Philosophy and Religion jAN STANDAFER Philosophy and Religion CHARLES STARK Industrial Arts INA STU MP Philosophy and Religion NELSON STU MP Music DUANE SWORD History 68 I DENNIS WALLACE Mathematics DEAN WATKINS Economics and Business Administration JAMES WEAVER Philosophy and Religion CONNIE WEDDLE English DENNIS WEIMER Biology MYRON WELCH Agriculture DONALD WIENS Economics and Business Administration DALLAS WINE Agriculture MARCIA YODER Education and Psychology 69 junior class officers: Earl Saffer, vice presidentg Sandee Hoover treasurer Margaret Hmtz secre taryg Bill Grove, president. union' Rake Ulon Homecoming Honors The highlight of the year for the junior class was Homecoming, the weekend of October l8.judy Fox, Homecoming queen, was crowned at the afternoon football game and reigned over the festivities, cheering the Mac team on to an exciting victory over the Bethany Swedes. The class also won first prize for its Homecoming display, Rake Up a Victory, in keeping with the general theme, The Swedish Fall. During the year juniors presided over Men's Council, Pep Club, MENC, A Capella Choir, Pi Kappa Delta, and Young Democrats Club, and held leadership in other organiza- tions. Several junior men lettered in sports. Students also assisted professors in dif- ferent areas. Soplzomores Promote Campus Enthusiasm The 133 sophomores of 1963-64 repre- sented 16 states, plus one student each from Puerto Rico, China, and East Africa. Being second only to the Freshman class in size, the sophomores provided campus leadership for CBYF, Young Republicans, Home Economics Chapter, Ag Club, and WAA. Of the 44 mem- bers of the football squad, 15 were sophomores, of the Bulldog cagers, 8 were from the Sopho- more class. The sophomores also stablized the A Cappella Choir and College band. All five varsity cheerleaders were sophomores. Although the sophomores were defeated by the freshmen in the annual tug-of-war held September 20, at the lagoon, they showed themselves gracious in defeat, and all year they proved responsible and mature leadership in many areas of campus life. 78 Ronald Achilles Sylvia Albright John Allen Karen Andes Larry Andrews Judy Atwater Velma Banks jerry Barrows Karen Barton Anjie Benton Carol Berry Larry Bierwirth Alvin Blough Gerald Book Toby Brown Beth Brumbaugh Mary Ann Bryant joan Burger Russell Burkholder Nancee Byers Sophomores ew? F reslnnen Establish Record Enrollment Determined to break traditions and rec- ords, the Freshman class registered as the big- gest class ever, with 219. They first made their presence known by displaying much ability in their talent show, emceed by Carlos Green. Thus united, they then toppled tradition by de- feating the sophomores in the tug-of-war. Because of the size of the Freshman class, two new English classes were added. A new system of testing for advanced placement in mathematics and chemistry was initiated. Freshmen sang in the A Cappella and Chapel Choirsg strengthened the basketball and foot- ball teamsg did reporting, copywriting, and typing for the Spectator and Quadrangle, par- ticipated in drama and debateg and served as cheerleaders for the B-team. In many ways, the Freshman class proved itself a welcome ad- dition to McPherson College. 88 its ts Adegbola Adejunmobi Roberta Albin l Darlene Allen Edward Allgood Sandy Anderson Kathie Andrews Rose Ann Ankenman Neda Atwood Aludy Bandy Jeannette Bartel Sharon Benner Steve Benyshek Guitar Creates Enzfhusiasm get i tv astra G5 Tis.
