The eyes of the budget cutters had fallen upon the Louisiana educa- tional system, which worried many of the state workers. Before it was all over, Lou- isiana teachers throughout would suffer pay and benefit cuts like never before. In protest, many local teachers gathered on the steps of the McNeese auditorium.
