[ The program seeks to involve you with people, places and events that you may have never lJ Up With People is a program that offers young people one of the most unique educational @ experienced, while helping you to evaluate and understand those experiences. Peo e As you develop yourself, you will be enriching those around you, helping to build bridges of understanding and communication among the peoples and cultures of the world. One of Up © With People’s goals is to help you mature and develop yourself so that when you return home | you will be able to better contribute to society. i | Each year over 400 students, aged 17-25, travel in Up with People’s five international casts. During Up With People’s first fourteen years, over 6,000 young men and women from thirty | nations have visited forty-two countries. Many are just out of high school or college. Others | are taking a year from their formal studies to participate in the program. } Each year the average cast member will travel an estimated 32,000 miles, across North, Cen- tral and South America and Europe. In each city of your tour, you will live with a local family | sharing in their interests, lifestyles and customs. By the year’s end, you will be able to call nearly | 80 families around the world your own. Performances around the world include the Royal Albert Hall (London); the 1972 Olympic Games (Munich); Super Bowl XIV (Pasadena); the White Houe; Carnegie Hall; China, Spain, Poland, Mexico, Canada and South America. Up With People was the first multi-national youth group to visit the People’s Republic of China since 1949. Up With People has become known the world over through its two-hour musical produc- tion. The show has a broad appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities. Whether it is performing in Spanish, French, English or Flemmish, the cast becomes a part of its audience instilling a special spirit that is uniquely Up With People’s. The two-hour performance combines fast-paced choreography with music that varies from traditional to contemporary, thought provoking, to whimsical. A twelve-piece band adds the power that is a trademark of the Up With People show. Events ¢ 37

Mr. McNeese 198 1-82 Jay Glynn, a senior Psychology major was elected Mr. McNeese, the first in the school’s history. At McNeese, Jay has been actively in- volved in all aspects of campus life. He is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and serves as this year’s Rush chairman. Also, Jay is head cheerleader and a student director for orientation. Under Student Government, Jay serves as director of Student Affairs and serves as a stu- dent representative on the Discipline and Grade Appeals Committees. Jay, because of his active involvemen in McNeese, has been awarded the Catholic Stu- dent Center Scholarship the past two semesters and has become a member of Blue Key National Honor Society for men. 36 ¢ Fvents
