THE DEACONS The Deacons are a brotherhood dedicated to the philosophy that social activities are an indispensible part of the “well-rounded” educa- tion and to the principle that obtain- ing a college education does not have to be a painful process. ne Between attending classes and : social functions, the Deacons presented a proposal to President Doland for an on-campus radio sta- tion and are currently researching the student interest in a possible Associate Degree in Aeronautical Technology for those interested in becoming certified pilots. Other pro- jects currently being considered are studies for covered walkways exten- ding from the New Ranch to Kauf- man and Farrar Halls. Recent accomplishments include winning the Interfraternity Council Scholarship Award for the Fall, 1981, for obtaining an aggregate grade- point average from 3.3 on the 4.0 University scale and, from one of our brothers who researched and proposed the system of Academic Bankruptcy, President Doland and McNeese State University recently adopted with only moderate changes the policy of Academic Bankruptcy. Goals set by the Deacons are: an increase in membership in order to request a charter from one of the largest international fraternities, maintaining excellence in scholar- ship, working for a better McNeese State University, and, of course, more parties! Our resident professor of “Second-lining.”’ We are not going to move . . . and that’s that.

The purpose of the Student Union Board is to provide entertain- ment for the McNeese student through concerts, dances, movies, lectures, art exhibits, fashion shows, and various other activities. SUB enables students to take a break from studying and get involved. It also enables students to meet new people and make new friends. This year SUB sponsored a Tarzan and Jane Party, Pablo Cruise, G. Gor- dan Liddy, and a magnificent fashion show during Homecoming. SOFT POsme ZOKZeEnzmocaw (eperinizations «299
