PAST AND PRESENT On December 10, 1966 the Theta Rho Chapter of Kappa Sigma made its first mark on the annals of McNeese History. Theta Rho’s predecessor Delta Theta Chi was McNeese’s first Greek- lettered fraternity and had its founding in 1951. Today, Kappa Sigmas have broken existing records in nearly every realm of the MSU frater- nal world. This year, 1982, Theta Rho brothers are serving as presidents of the Student Govern- ment Association, the Student Union Board, the Interfraternity Council, and the MSU Accounting Society. Brothers also serve as officers and leaders in Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, the Contraband, and on numerous university committees. Brothers of Theta Rho have also been involved in and winners of many Intramural activities, have acted in university theatrical productions, and have worked on several community service pro- jects. This year Kappa Sigmas won an award for donating the most blood in the SGA Blood Drive, defeated Kappa Alpha in the first annual Charity Bowl and donated their share of the proceeds to the Shriner’s Hospital for Burned Children, and Kappa Sigma pledges raised $500 for the American Cancer Society. Rewards, accomplishments, and achievements are not ends in themselves. What must come before is that by which anything and anyone must be judged. Joseph H. Barbour’s personal motto is “No excellence without labor” and herein lies the strength and beauty of Kappa Sigma’s brotherhood. Our biggest accomplish- ment is the struggle to reach the next goal; to fhaintain our number one position on the MSU €ampus is our constant care. Kappa Sigma is indeed “A Good Thing!” Greeks ¢ 285
