262 ¢ Greeks Panhellenic Council McNEESE PANHELLENIC COUNCIL The Panhellenic Council is an advisory governing organization that is composed of representatives from each sorority. The council is the of- ficial spokesman for matters concerning the six national sororities on campus. The council encourages sororities to become involved with campus and community affairs; promotes scholarship by emphasizing and recognizing the academic performance of the sororities’ members; promotes leadership; and encourages cooperation and friendship among the sororities and coordinates sorority activities including Rush Membership Week. McNeese State University has four sororities which are members of the National Panhellenic Council. They are Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Phi Mu, and Zeta Tau Alpha. Alpha Kappa Alpha and Zeta Phi Beta are members of the National Pan Hellenic. The Panhellenic Council is the official governing council of the sorori- ty system. Through the efforts of Panhellenic, activities are planned to involve all sororities and a general effort of unity is promoted. A sorority can be a very rewarding aspect of your life. By becoming a member of a sorority, a girl not only learns to become a responsibile in- dividual but also learns to strive for high goals in life through her own ef- forts and through sincere encouragement from friends. Most of all a sorority creates a lasting relationship between each of its members because a girl grows to realize and appreciate the ideas of each sister. ‘ Na} Nise We : 2 | 4 fh Sara | 4 AL urd OFFICERS Michelle Mier President Alpha Delta Pi Laura Calloway V.
