Cowboy Baseball Seniors James Gallier and Lud Henry accounted for most of the records broken by the McNeese State baseball team during the 1982 season. The Cowboys, who compiled a 25-29 overall record and won two tournament titles during the year, broke a total of nine records (team and individual) during the season. Gallier, who wrapped up a four-year career as a starting first baseman for the Cowboys, accounted for four of these records. He set a single game record in RBls by driving in seven in one game with Lamar and he tied a single game mark for home runs with three against the Cardinals. Gallier also set career records in times at bat (587) and in base hits (176). é ze HM . ‘ $ slight, Above: T 5 ic he 1982 Baseball Team. 232 Sports

Henry, who was a four-year starter at third base for the Cowboys, set a career record in doubles by slamming out 34. Also coming up with a pair of records was Cowboy centerfielder Carl Grayson who stole four bases in a game against Northwestern State for one mark and a total of 24 on the season for another. In the team category, McNeese set records for base hits (369), double plays (39) and stolen bases (92). Short- stop Roger Hickernell won the team batting title for the second year in a row, posting a .372 mark with 64 hits in 172 trips to the plate. Other hitting department leaders were Henry in home runs with seven and in runs batted in with 34 and Gallier in runs scored with 35. In the pitching department, righthander Ben Berwick won the most games (five) while reliefer Scott Wade had the best won-lost precentage with a 4-0 record. NO. PLAYER POST. B T WHGT. WGT. AGE CL-EXP.
