Dr. Jack an historians look back on McNeese State University, the 1981-82 school year will be noted as a turning r the institution. After many years of struggle, McNeese was recognized as a leader by the entire state of ja. An increased enrollment of 31% attests to this acceptance of the university by Southwest Louisiana 2 entire state and nation. national record for enrollment increase was enhanced by many new capital projects. Among these were thetenovation of the arena for a physical education and recreation facility, anew engineering and nursing facility, planning for a new business center, and the improvement of many older buildings. A land addition of fifteen acres adjoining the campus was a promise of future growth. Several of our programs, such as nursing and engineering, received initial national accreditation during this year. Many changes in the academic procedures took place in the fall of 1981 and were considered excellent improvements. The administration of this university will continue working to make every program that is sponsored by McNeese second to none. Most of our programs that can be measured are close to that goal now.
