‘Sea Level’’ Performs at McNeese The McNeese Student Union Board (SUB) presented ‘‘Sea Level’ in con- cert Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. in the main auditorium. ‘Sea Level’ is most widely Known for its origin. Three members are rem- nants of the Allman Brothers Band — Johanmy Johanson, Chuck Leavell, and Lamar Williams. Other members are Jimmy Nalls, Davis Causey, and George Weaver. “Sea Level’ has three albums — Sea Level, Cats on the Coast, and On the Edge. Several new album cuts were recorded live before the McNeese crowd. The concert opened with ‘‘Oco- nee,”’ a five-piece jazz rock group. After the night of the performance, memories of the group remained in the minds of students. Varied responses towards the concert and the SUB tui- tion assessment were made known by more than six letters to the editor in the “Contraband.”’ Many students felt that “Sea Level’ did not qualify for the definition of “‘big name”’ entertainment. Others stated that they performed a ‘qualitative college level concert’’ and “satisfied the necessity of the latest desired sounds.”’ SUB was blindly criticized and defended on their attempt in acquiring ‘big name’”’ entertainment. 47
