Summary This section of the book will be devoted to the people of this university and to the hap- penings of this school. The “‘People’’ section will be a brief summary of the events and activities reported in the “Contraband.” We have outlined the year month by month, and event by event to help you to remember the year a little easier. We’ve tried to capture the most important events that have happened and put them into words — words that will help you sha pe your memories into something solid and fresh. When you put the whole year together maybe you'll see that it wasn’t such a bad year after all. “DA Forum is only the beginning” was the headline of the editorial in the first edition of the “Contraband” in the Fall semester. It was a state- ment that foreshadowed the things to come. In Kevin Troutman’s eyes, “the 1978-79 academic year at McNeese is going to be this university's best ever if we can keep the momentum we've gathered through enthusi- astic teamwork in the weeks preceding the beginning of the semester.” 296
