To become 4 a member, a home economics appa } WCcron | major or minor must have com- pleted at Jeast 8 hours in home economics studies and must be a sophomore. She must also have a high scholastic average in both home economics and out- of-department classes. Before being invited to join the organiza- tion, prospective pledges are voted on by the membership regarding leadership skills and personality. The purpose of this honor society is to further the best interests of home economics by recognizing and encouraging scholastic excellence, develop- ing leadership. abilities, fostering professional activities and inter- ests, and promoting fellowship among faculty and students of the profession. As a national service project, Kappa Omicron Phi contributes to Crossnore School. A yearly project is designated and chap- ters contribute to this project or to a school for school-age chil- dren who, for various reasons, need institutional care.
