Alpha Eta Chapter was established at McNeese State College as a colony in 1962 and received its charter in 1963. lts purpose is to provide its members with a mean- ingful fraternity experience. AKL affords its members excellent opportunities for leadership and binds them in an enduring brotherhood. Even so, AKL remains young in spirit and flexible for change. lt is the fraternity for the future. Our year began with the 24th National Conclave held in Colorado where over 200 AKL's gathered to ex- change new ideas, attend leadership college and perform necessary legislation. During the year, activities consisted of after-game parties, travelling to support the Cowboys at out of town games, weekly poster parties and display building. be-s 12' I . The initial name of the fra- ternity was Kappa Alpha Nu and was changed to the present name in 1914. The first scholar club was organized at Ohio State University in 1919. The original ten found- ers Guy Grant, Elder Diggs, Byron Armstrong, John Lee, Henry Asher, Marcos Blakemore, Paul Caine, George Ed- wards, Ezra Alexander, and Edward G. Irwin.
