.A 1,-1 ,fp .i' 'N' li'Ssa?i'i'7lc Q ie Cowboys Hove o Bright Future The Cowboys baseball team is on the way up under the leadership of head coach Hubert Boales. Last year, Boales' first as head coach, the Pokes compiled a 13-20-1 overall record and had a 9-12-1 mark in league play to place fourth. I This year Boales had the services of 11 re- turning Iettermen: pitcher Roy Armstrong, catcher Sam Ivey, infielder Coco Rossitto, Charles Wimberly, Cecil Heard, and Randy Dale, and outfielder Gerald Andrus, Tom Silvia, Paul Young, Eddie Price, and George Colburn. 1 , Armstrong, a righthander, was used in rota- tion and emerged the team's top pitcher with a 5-3 record in 1968. Andrus, the lone member ot the Cowboy y ls . '- team to make the All-GSC squad, led the ' team with a .311 batting average and in runs batted in with 23. Wimberly, who batted .278 and drove in 18 runs, was the top slugger with four doubles, a triple and five home runs. Gerald Cotton Andrus receives MVP award. A run scored for the Cowboys as the opposing catcher drops the ball.
