Cowboys to Lose Only Four Seniors ix, r L l The boot of Gene Beachly. g, -.Qi il-iq 1131! SAMMY ASHWORTH I GENE BEACHLY 1 1 my 5153! ,. I if . -. 3-4 f 0 J. ' i:,77,',., 'F , ss . lb . DOC FONTENOT, the patch-up man. EARL GOTHREAUX ?u if DICKIE COLBURN The Cowboys were a team of ups and downs during the 1968 season. The ups came at the early part of the season with the de- fense proving unbeatable. The offense had its problems with the absence of Carol Breaux, but still managed to score the points to win the games. After the come-from-behind-vic- tory against Louisiana Tech, it looked as though the Cowboys could well obtain an unbeaten record for 1968. In the very next game, played against UT Arling- ton, all hopes of an unbeaten season departed with a defeat of 46 to 21. That defeat was the turning point in the season, and except for the thrashing C54 to 131 the Cowboys handed Pensacola Navy, the road for the Cowboys was a rough one for the rest of the season. The yearly battle with USL proved to be a great one, and only luck, a bounce of the ball, enabled USL to keep the flag. 1969 looks bright for the Cowboys as they are only going to lose four sen- iors, maybe that unbeaten sea- son is not too far in the future.
