Military Deportment i l woovsan ' 1.-1-.. up E Q-.u-:numb , L.: il?- AINWM9 COLLEGE James Fruge, Cadet Colonel Lt. Colonel Romero, ROTC Commander Military science instruction CGMS1 was initiat- ed at McNeese State College in 1942 with a staff of one officer and one enlisted man. The ROTC student strength was 73 cadets. Annually, enrollment at the college increased and, with it, enrollment in ROTC. The first two years are required with the advanced portion being elective. ROTC enrollment for the 1968-69 school year was 1215 cadets. The general obiective of the program is to produce iunior officers, who by their edu- cation, training, and inherent qualities are suitable for continued development as of- ficers in the United States Army. The course stimulates interest in military careers, pro- motes appreciation of the role of the Army and assists the educational institution in the progressive development of the student. The aim is to provide a basic military education, and in coniunction with other college disci- pline, to develop individual character and at- tributes essential to an officer.
