Sigma Alphci lotci Sigma Alpha Iota is a professional fra- ternity for women in the field of music. lt was founded June 12, 1903, at the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Delta Epsilon Sorority was ac- cepted by Sigma Alpha Iota and char- tered as Beta Chi Chapter on February 20, l959. On the national level, the fraternity is well-known for its service to music, sponsoring such proiects as the Inter- American Music Awards, the Braille Music Transcription Program, the Inter- national Music Fund, Sigma Alpha Iota Foundation, and Music Fellowships. The influence of Sigma Alpha lota is extended to the local level.
