.V. s in 2 ut of The 1968 J.V. gridders emerged from the season with a two win five loss season record. The hardwork- ing Celtics collected their only two wins against Cor- vallis l3-7 and Sweet Home 39-7. The Celts win-loss record, however, was not indic- ative of the great determination and spirit generated by the players. Coach Jiminez reported that his great- est source of satisfaction had to be nthe general over- all attitude ofthe squad. All 65 players showed a great deal of desire and drive. Mr. Jiminez feels that this years' J.V.s could develop into a district contender.

Thinclads Place Fifth Although the 1969 Celtic Bushmen failed to equal the perfect record of their predecessors, they still turned in a winning season with four victories in six meets. Especially rewarding was the defeat of cross town rivals. North and South High. The McNary thinclads also participated in the North Marion Invitational cross country meet but managed only a 14th place. Competition at this meet was extremely keen. At the District Championships the Celtics managed to redeem themselves with the varsity placing fifth and the ju- nior varsity placing second. Sophomore Brock Hinzman was the top finisher for McNary with a 12th place. The future for McNary's cross country team looks in- creasingly hopeful although six varsity thinclads will be leaving via graduation. -5, , .I xx . X Marv , ' '
