S s il f' Y 5 s. s V f 'was a Hearty ay Laughing, embarrassed and smiling faces were everywhere during the first hour of school on Valentine's Day, for that was the time students received their Val-O-Grams, an annual tradition at all Salem high schools. At lVlcNary the King and Queen of Hearts were Rex Yoder and Beula Wood. The royal couple reigned over Valen- tine's Day activities and were crowned at the noon soc-hop, 'gValentine '69, sponsored by Girls League. Everything WasComing Up Hearts as the sophomores staged their first party from 8:00 to ll:OO Valentine's night. The festivity was held with all of the trimmings in the cafeteria. TR. Lemon Flatbush The third annual musical, The Lemon Flatbush. was performed for the public on February 5, 6, 8, 12, 13. Written by Mrs. Alice Jones and Mr. Robert Voigt, the comedy portrayed a couple, Clara and Harry living in a Brooklyn apartment where the refrigerator held everything from their son's tennis racket to the Brumfield jewels. Leading performers were Kris Smither as Clara, Dave Bull as her husband Harry, Kristi Mills as Clara's best friend Emmaline, Mark Hafferkamp as the gangster Nick, and Chris Fletcher as Nick's girlfriend Rhonda. Mike Gregg acted as Narrator. Also featured were members of the chorus and Speech department. Mrs. Donna Beals, Miss Ann Culter, and Miss Helen Schwab assisted with the direc- tion, properties, and art work. ' LGJC5 S Jjyl ,, . -
