WERE ww 1 4. ...,..,... n They Had the Answers The 1969 McNary Hi Q team re- turned from competition undefeated champions. In three television appear- ances on KGW TV, The Celtic con- testants defeated Lincoln High 195-165 on November 3g Jesuit High 305-110 on November 103 and Hudson Bay High 230-170 on November 17. Team mem- bers were Steve Rehfus Ccaptainb, Kay Klaboe,1 Mark Rowland, and Brian Barney. Stuart Taylor served as alternate. Head coach for the team was Beryl Broderseng assisting him were Mrs. Six, Mr. Boost, Mr. Voigt and many other teachers. Student assistants were Bob Bales, Ann Branchfield, and Steve Peet.

Home for Christmas Highlighting the Christmas as- sembly December 20, was the crown- ing of Queen Janice Pyle and the homecoming court of 1968. Reign- ing as princesses were Janee Nicolet, senior, Kay Hoerauf, seniorg Sue Hatteberg, junior, and Janet Gard- ner, sophomore. The girls were es- corted through the gym by Pat Mur- phy, Dave Kemp, Dave Sullivan, Gary Williams, and Dave Hammock. Pat Murphy headed the assembly committee and music was provided by the Highlanders, the choir, and the band. The Celtans under the di- rection of Mrs. Ritter performed as toy soldiers. Debbie Fry, welcoming commit- tee chairman, and A.S.B. and senior class officers greeted returning grads at a tea held in the library at one oiclock. Principal Gurnee Flesher spoke briefly to the group and The Newcomers provided entertainment. The Tyme played at the after game dance held in the McNary caf- eteria from 9:30 p.m.-l1:30 p.m. with Nancy Hathaway serving as dance chairman. Helping to get the school into the Christmas spirit was Chuck Hammock, chairman of the Christmas decorations committee. Holidoor contest winners were announced during the assembly with Mrs. Bennett's class taking first place in the serious category and Mrs. Hamilton's class taking second. Taking first place in the humorous division was Mr. Miller's class and the Girls' locker room and Miss Eskelson's classes tied for second.
