41 Cadets Teach Cadet teaching offers an opportunity for young people who plan to teach to gain experience in the classroom. Stu- dents act as assistants to teachers and find out for themselves if they want to go into the profession. Cadet teaching shows student teachers all sides of the teaching profession. They also gain an understanding of children and their prob- lems. Cadets taught at Whiteaker, Kei- zer, Clear Lake, Cumming and Kennedy school. Grows The work experience program be- gan at McNary in the fall of 1965 and has become the largest program in the state with 98 to 110 students enrolled during the year. The goal of the program is to provide a classroom on the job. Upper: Phillip Carlin meets many new people as a box boy.
