. :7vsfrf'fm,agaagzg,Wgv::. fi ' A iw: , if -W-W-QW,,4i, agaafs,,a15s:,.rf, f 'A ' ' ' Three Receive Music Awards Three seniors received instrumental music awards: Susan Watson for the sen- ior orchestra, Tom Ulmer for senior ac- companist, and Steve Peet for outstand- ing concert band member. Seven groups made up the school's instrumental department. Of them, the orchestra was directed by Mr. Glenn Reeves and the six bands were directed by Mr. Glenn Williams. Both bands and orchestra performed at Spring and fall concerts and at many other functions in- cluding Hi O Holiday on December 29 over K.G.W. T.V. The concert band performed at five football games, at a Christmas concert, and at the Salem High School band fes- tival. Among other appearances were those at the State basketball tournament, and pep assemblies. The stage band took part in the talent show, a spring concert, and the school Christmas assembly. They also performed at pep assemblies and at several basketball games. Other bands include the Sophomore band, the Ger- man band, the Dixieland band, and a Jazz band. The Orchestra participated in the music festival, the Christmas and Spring concerts and an O.C.E. Contest on Feb- ruary 22.

The goal was to furnish lVleNary students with the best yearbook in lVleNary's history. The staff sought correlation of the various parts of the book by adopting a modern mosaic format and hoped to give complete and ac- curate coverage to all events of the 1969 school year.
