ig ,f XX! xff 9 J . V . s at .400 Coach Shaw's J.V. baseballers fin- ished the 1969 baseball season with a .400 win-loss average placing them fifth in District 8 A-1 competition. Top hitter for the Celtics was Tim Faville who posted a .297 batting aver- age. Another outstanding performance was turned in by sophomore Mike God- frey who struck out 98 batters in 60 in- nings. Steve Klampe suffered the only Cel- tic injury pulling a muscle in his thigh. Steve still managed to finish out the sea- son however.

3rd in District Celtic Cindermenjcoached by Mr. Stu Fors com- pleted the 1969 track season with a third place at dis- trict and a second place in city competition. Going into district competition the Celtics compiled a season record of 4 wins-3 losses in dual meet competition. Outstanding indivilglual performances at the district meet were turned in by Mike Fleer, who won the javelin with a throw of 177-7land the high jump with a 6-4 ef- fort and Gary Ericks n, who won the long jump with 22-4b. These efforts ualified both boys for participa- tion in the state track ijneet. ln addition to Erickson and Fleer, McNary also qualified Rick Swim in the 880 and Doug Fox in the two mile. In State, Fleer set an all time best of 6-6 inches in the high jump to take state and to place Sth in the jave- lin. Gary Erickson placed 8th with 21-710.
