Seven hungry Celtics were ready for a win in the season's opener against dallas. The Celtic powerhouse went on to an undefeated dual-meet season. The cross- town rivals were little match for coach Fors' harriersg they shut out North Salem with a perfect 15 points and trounced South Salem four straight times. The Willamette Valley invitational combined the leading teams from throughout the Northwest. Coach Dasch says the out- standing varsity prospects are: Fullback, Ethan Berg- man, Quarterback, Rex Yoder, Guard, Gary Willard, Tackle, Larry Haywardp End, Dave Kirkwood, Center, Charles Middleton. He further said that, generally, they were a group of boys with enthusiasm, the will to win, and were very quick to learn. We actually played only one half of a poor game all year, and that was against Lebanon.

November 4 found the Celtics at Willamette University for the state championships. Although drawing bad field posi- tion at the start, lVlcNary advanced to 14th in a state renouned for producing great distance runners.
