Coach Teaff and Family. Coach Kimbrell chats with Dr. Humphrey. DCear 77earn 77rage 7y Finally made it home! McMurry College’s football team escaped near disaster early Sunday morning. Sept. 28, 1963, when its chartered airliner crash-landed at Barksdale Air Force Base near Shreveport, La. The Indians, fresh from a last-minute defeat at the hands of Northeast Louisiana, were on the way home from Monroe, La. None of the 31 persons, including 25 members of the football squad, on board the plane were injured. The DC3 twin-engined craft which was heavily damaged made a belly- landing after its landing gear was ruined in an earlier unsuc- cessful attempt to land at Monroe. Members of the team and the coaches arc shown as they arrived the next day in Abilene. Player Reynolds with a happy family. Abiicnc never looked better. 15
